Join us on a once in a lifetime experience! We have Hot Air Balloon Safaris launching from the centre of Pilanesberg National Park.
Guests are collected early morning by a registered field guide, in an open safari vehicle from their respective hotels at Sun City Resort or lodges in Pilanesberg area. Day visitors can be collected from Bakubung Gate. The transfer through the park takes approximately an hour as the balloon launch site is situated in the center of the Pilanesberg National Park. At the launch site the guests will be met by the pilot and crew, who will proceed to give a briefing. Guests will then embark in a 1,2 metre high basket and commence on an unforgettable experience that lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. This will undoubtedly be the finest way of viewing the inhabitants of the Pilanesberg National Park. On landing, guests will be served with sparkling wine and orange juice. After a mini game drive, guests will then be taken to a private lodge for a full english breakfast. Each guest will receive a first flight certificate signed by the Pilot. Guests will be returned to their respective hotels. The total duration of this activity is approximately ±5 hours.
VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE! This activity is extremely weather dependent and a minimum of 4 people are required for the flight to take place. It is advisable that guests book 2 or 3 consecutive mornings as a backup plan.

The exact departure time will only be confirmed by the Gametrackers Tour Coordinator directly with guests, on the evening before the flight between 17h30 and 18h00.
Please note that there is an age restriction of 7 years for this activity. Guests are to be reasonably fit, as they are required to climb into a 1.2-metre high balloon basket and be able to crouch down on their haunches on landing.
Due to safety reasons, pregnant women are not able to do this activity
The balloon reservation form must be completed at least 48 hours prior to the flight booked.

The alarm went off at 3am so we could be ready for our departure at 3.40am. The ranger was at our reception on time, he was courteous and friendly giving us some ponchos to keep us warm as we went off to pick up some other passengers. A nice drive into the park, when we turned the corner we saw 3 huge balloons being inflated in the middle of the park. This was our first balloon experience and what a start, standing in the wild park, waiting for the balloons to inflate, protected by the team of people around us. We then boarded the balloon and we were the first to lift off. 10 of us and the pilot. The experience and views as the sun came uo was breathtaking. Our pilot was very knowledgeable and explained and demonstrated to us how the balloon worked. Not only that could spot animals from above and point them out. We were very lucky on our trip we saw impales, rhino, girraffes, wilderbeest, and a leopard up in the hills amounst other animals. Landing was an experience, fully practised our positions beforehand so we knew what to do, yes it was a little bumpy. Then onto the next treat which was to have champagne in the wild, once more protected by the team, certificates were given out about our success. This is an amazing experience and one I would fully and wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting pilensburg. - Mr

An incredible experience throughout! Eager anticipation while our highly experienced team assessed conditions as dawn broke. The thrill of seeing the balloon increase its lift with every blast. The initial lift off, so quiet and surreal, followed by the sudden realisation that we were hundreds of feet above the ground. How interesting it was to learn about the subtle air currents as our very skilled pilot readjusted to find the best views and ultimately landing spot. Such fun in bush surfing down a hillside to sail up the valley, constantly readjusting to eventually settle on the third landing site with pinpoint accuracy. The celebratory champagne on landing just rounded of an unforgettable experience! Don't miss this amazing experience! - Brian
