Join us on a once in a lifetime experience! We have Hot Air Balloon Safaris launching from the centre of Pilanesberg National Park.
Guests are collected early morning by a registered field guide, in an open safari vehicle from their respective hotels at Sun City Resort or lodges in Pilanesberg area. Day visitors can be collected from Bakubung Gate. The transfer through the park takes approximately an hour as the balloon launch site is situated in the center of the Pilanesberg National Park. At the launch site the guests will be met by the pilot and crew, who will proceed to give a briefing. Guests will then embark in a 1,2 metre high basket and commence on an unforgettable experience that lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. This will undoubtedly be the finest way of viewing the inhabitants of the Pilanesberg National Park. On landing, guests will be served with sparkling wine, orange juice and breakfast canapes. Each guest will receive a first flight certificate signed by the Pilot. After a mini game drive, guests will be returned to their respective hotels. The total duration of this activity is approximately ±5 hours.
VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE! This activity is extremely weather dependent and a minimum of 4 people are required for the flight to take place. It is advisable that guests book 2 or 3 consecutive mornings as a backup plan.

The exact departure time will only be confirmed by the Gametrackers Tour Coordinator directly with guests, on the evening before the flight between 17h30 and 18h00.
Please note that there is an age restriction of 7 years for this activity. Guests are to be reasonably fit, as they are required to climb into a 1.2-metre high balloon basket and be able to crouch down on their haunches on landing.
Due to safety reasons, pregnant women are not able to do this activity
The balloon reservation form must be completed at least 48 hours prior to the flight booked.

We really enjoyed our balloon safari on the 27th of March. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that passed a little too soon. The serenity of the flight was quite incredible and the hour we were airborne passed a little too soon. The fact that the experience is tied in with a very hearty breakfast buffet and a leisurely drive through the park made it all the more amazing. Even though I do not have a picture of it on my phone, flying over a leopard was very special. In fairly close proximity to the leopard, we had a lioness and rhinos as well. Definitely a safari worth doing. I tried uploading images but kept getting an error message, and hence, I left them out, - Stephen
This experience exceeded my expectations. All I can say is WOW! We where picked up by our game driver Niki, on time, not only was she one of the most knowledgeable drivers we had throughout our stay, but she had a true passion for what she did and it showed, We drove to the balloon location and saw multiple animals, Niki, also told us the history of the park, which made getting up early all the more worth it. When we arrived to the balloon site, we felt so safe and all the staff where keen to help and advise, and most importantly take photos. We where given a safety brief from the balloon driver, who was clear and told us what to expect. the ride was smooth, and at points I didn't realise how high or low we where. I felt in the safest hands. We set off just before sunrise, not only did we feel in safe hands the views and animals where breath-taking. the driver went out of his way to show us everything we could, including, a lioness, a leopard, hippo's and more. we where in the air for around an hour and landed, where are drivers met us with some champagne. we had the most amazing view of a rhino, we felt safe the whole time with the ranger and staff. We where taking to Breakfast, all being inc, was really nice. We went the road way back to our resort as it was quick, which i apricated, we got to see the town surrounding the park and had a lot of waves from the local children. Over all I would rate this experience a 10/10. I haven's stopped talking about it and would recommend you defiantly do this. Me and my whole group, felt looked after, important and we where given an real experience. The hot air ballooning itself was stunning! The pilots were super professional and friendly. Overall an amazing service! I have one issue with regards to incentive groups: due to the fact that the hot air ballooning is so weather dependant as a company you don't want to announce this activity in advance in order to not disappoint the guests in case it gets cancelled. However, this means you have to book for 30x people, not knowing if all of them will actually want to participate. This resulted in us having to pay a no show fee for 2x guests who were not participating. I wonder what is the best way around this! - Your
The Experience was amazing. We really enjoyed our time during the flight and the awesome views we saw from up there. I would totally recommend this experience to everyone, specially if you like to observe animals from a whole new perspective. - Mr
